A spectacular launch for Sheffield Chamber Music Festival, showcasing two spellbinding works in the intimacy of the Crucible Playhouse. A passionate Piano Quartet by Gabriel Fauré – whose music our Guest Curator Steven Isserlis has described as “uniquely moving and uplifting”– opens the evening.
Leading British pianist Peter Hill has been part of the Music in the Round ‘family’ from the very beginning, appearing in the first Festival in 1984. For the first time since his sell-out concert in 2018, he returns to the Playhouse to give a solo recital of a selection of Bach’s elegant ‘English’ Suites and ever-inventive ‘Well-Tempered Clavier’.
In 2024, Music in the Round celebrates its 40th anniversary, with the Sheffield Chamber Music Festival set to be a highlight bringing nine sensational days of concerts in the Crucible Playhouse 17 – 25 May 2024.
